Pancreatitis

Symptoms of Pancreatitis:

Pancreatitis symptoms vary depending on the type, acute or chronic. Common signs include severe upper abdominal pain that may radiate to the back, pain that worsens after eating, nausea, vomiting, fever, and a rapid pulse. Chronic pancreatitis may also lead to weight loss and oily, smelly stools (steatorrhoea).

Treatment for Pancreatitis:

Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms, treating the cause and supporting pancreatic health. Initial measures include fasting to rest the pancreas, IV fluids for hydration, and pain relief medications. If the condition is caused by gallstones, a procedure to remove the stones may be necessary. In cases of severe or chronic pancreatitis, more intensive treatments such as surgery or enzyme supplements to aid digestion might be required. Lifestyle changes, including ceasing alcohol consumption and following a low-fat diet, are crucial for long-term management. Always consult a healthcare professional for a diagnosis and tailored treatment plan.
